Color the Creek invites a roster of Artists from Battle Creek and around the United States to participate in our annual Mural Festival that takes place in August. These artists are tasked with helping our event reach our goals of: 

• Adding Vibrancy to our Community

• Replacing blighted surfaces with Colorful Artwork

• Creating positive energy in Battle Creek

By participating as a Mural Location, your business or building will be a part of a community-led Public Arts initiative. Murals created as part of Color the Creek are intended to spotlight the power of public art.

Color the Creek murals can not be an advertisement for your business. 

How it Works: 

1. Approved Mural Locations will sign a Letter of Understanding with Color the Creek

   • This Letter states the Mural Location owns the mural after it is finished, but must keep the mural for at least 1 year after it is painted

2. Approved Mural Locations are encouraged, but not required to provide a donation to Color the Creek (Donations are Tax Deductible)

3. Color the Creek chooses a roster of Artists to participate in our event

4. Color the Creek assigns Artists with approved Mural Locations

5. The Artist will propose a mural they would like to paint at their assigned Mural Location

6. Mural Location will give approval of proposed mural or will provide feedback

   • Artist will work to create a Mural sketch that is approved by both the Artist and Mural Location 

   • If Artist and Mural Location can not find a subject they both agree on, the Artist will be assigned to a different location 

7. Mural painting will start Aug. 8th, 2026

8. Your business or organization is featured on the Color the Creek social media, website, and featured in our annual mural map (2,500 to 5,000 physical copies distributed)
